Essentials

This post is a list of what every girl needs in her makeup bag. Even if you don't wear a lot of makeup, there are still the essentials that every girl needs. It is always good to have different tools to create different looks. Because well, It's boring to wear the same look everyday. :p

  • Foundation. Be it liquid or powder. It is a key ingredient for every girl. Even if you don't wear it everyday, it is really good to have for days when you have lots of redness, uneven skin tone etc. I won't say much much since I already covered foundation basics in my first post.
  • Concealer. As I have said before it is the one makeup product you should buy name brand. You will be so glad you have it when an unexpected blemish pops up right before a big event. How to apply it and more information on concealer is posted here.
  • Black liquid eyeliner. To use liquid eyeliner is hard to apply correctly and will take some practice, however it is essential. You can create a lot of dramatic looks and even use it for drawing. Sounds weird right? Well it won't when Halloween comes around and don't have a costume. ;)
  • Black eyeliner pencil. While it's good to have other color eyeliners, black is the best to help your eyes to stand out and my signature look always has black eyeliner on my waterline. I just like how my eyes look and how they are redefined.
  • Makeup Brushes. There are just 5 brushes that are the most important: blush brush, flat eyeshadow brush, Kabuki brush, blending brush, and concealer brush.
  • Lip stick/Lip Gloss. My mom always told me my makeup looked "unfinished" because I didn't have any lip gloss or lip stick on. She would always say "put on some lips." You always want to put something on your lips because if you don't your makeup looks as if something is missing. And in most cases it pulls the whole makeup look together.
  • Pearl White eyeshadow. If you don't wear eyeshadow usually I still do suggest that you do have this. For the inner corners of your eyes and just for a touch of color on your eyelids to brighten them up a bit. Also as in my last post to help accentuate your lips. ;)
  • Mascara. This has to be the most important since even if you hardly wear any makeup you should at least wear this. It helps bring out your eyes and makes them pop and choosing one can be a tricky cause.
  • Highlighter/Face Illuminator. Ever wonder how celebs get that beautiful glow? They use highlighters but of course! ;) This is one of my favorite products to use. I love the effect it give and how beautiful it looks in pictures! :) I use Wet n Wild Mega Glo
  • Tweezers. Every woman should own a pair of tweezers. To tame those monstrous eyebrows :p I recommend Tweezer Man they are the best and the sharpest. Other cheap brands I have tried hardly can grasp the hair. Tweezer Man tweezers get the job done.
If you are on a budget (like me) build your makeup collection with time. Don't go buy everything at once and spend a fortune. Also you should buy a new mascara every 3 months to keep from getting an eye infection.

Tickle Me Pink

Want a perfect look for your job? For school, for shopping or even for a day out with the girls? Then try this fresh, sweet and innocent look!
Perfect for school, work, shopping or any daytime activity. Plus it's really quick and easy! This look is great for any eye color but I think it helps make the green eyes pop. ;)

First of all, start off with a clean face. Foundation, concealer, eyebrows filled in, and powder. To save space I won't talk about how to apply them. I also did a tutorial on how to apply it you can read it here. However I will tell you after you put your liquid foundation on it is always good to put a powder on to seal the makeup, and it helps covers up redness. I use the lightest Maybelline Mineral Power (shown at left) To apply first you need a kabuki brush of some kind. Tap the powder into the the cap of the container and take your brush and swirl the powder into the brush. Then apply all over your face in circular motion. Make sure you coat your skin evenly.

Next take a dark pinkish color. I am using Mac's Hepcat Frost:

Take a flat makeup brush and load it up with the eyeshadow and apply it all over your lids and wing the color out a bit to make the color stand out. Plus it makes the look more glamorous. When applying the eyeshadow do not go past the crease. Make sure it is evenly applied. Then you want to take a blending brush and blend the eyeshadow to the shade you want. Usually when I apply this pink it is too dramatic so I like to tone the color down by blending. Then take a purplish pinkish color, I am using the purple from Almay's intense i-color pallet:

Then take the same flat brush and apply it inside the crease. Again take the blending brush and blend away any harsh edges so that the two colors flow into each other. Like so:

Then take a pearl whitish color and apply it on the brow bone. Make sure it isn't matte and it has a little bit of a shimmer to it. It really ties the whole look together. Then make sure you apply it into the corners of your eyes to brighten them and make them appear bigger.

Next take a purple/pink eyeliner and line as close to your lash line as humanly possible. The best part about using this eyeliner is that you don't have to make sure the line is completely straight! :) Then line your lower lash line. And connect the two lines together to create a V on the outer corners of your eyes. Don't apply it on your waterline since it won't be visible. It will appear very light and it may not look like you have any eyeliner on. But after you finish you will see that your eyes are 'defined.' For this tutorial I am using Almay Intense i-color eyeliner "bring out the green". (Pictured at the left) Even if your eyes are not green, this eyeliner is perfect for this look. It is not dramatic since this look is in no way meant to look dramatic. Note: it doesn't have to be this exact eyeliner. You can use any light purple/pinkish eyeliner. Don't be afraid to play with color, or be afraid to try new things.

Next step is blush. Choose a bright pink to keep the makeup clean. I am using Bare Minerals Diamond Laughter Blush. (Pictured at right) Use a blush brush and tap a tiny amount of the blush into the cap of the blush and swirl the brush in the cap about four times so the color gets inside the brush. Then tap the brush on the cap to get rid of access because you don't want too much color, that could over power the look. You want to keep it fresh and clean. Then smile and apply it on the apples of your cheeks in a circular motion and then back toward your hair line. Then lightly brush your chin, nose, and forehead for a touch of color.
This step is optional but I love to accentuate my lips. I take a white shimmery peal color and apply it on my cupids bow. Yes, that really is the name :p Take your index finger and lightly touch the eyeshadow to get just a dot of it on your finger and rub into the indent between your nose and mouth. Make sure it is evenly covered and there isn't an area whiter than others. After applied you should see the light reflecting your lips and making them not only appear larger but stand out.

The last step is lipstick! I suggest to use lipstick instead of lip gloss because the glossiness will take the attention away from your eyes. So stay with a light pink color, or a color closest to your natural lip color to keep the makeup looking natural.

Oil free to the rescue!

So I am really sorry about the no posting lately :\ I have been so busy with work! They had me working basically everyday this week! But no worries! Cuz I am BACK! I am thinking of doing two posts today this first one will be short and sweet. I just wanted to comment on this face wash I have been using! :D <3

So my skin wasn't bad but it was the regular teenagers skin. I had the occasional zits and a very red t-zone. But my problem wasn't that I just got pimples from oily skin or anything it was from that dirty word: STRESS!

Now I have tried all sorts of face washes, scrubs, creams, masks, etc. I was so close to buying proactiv. Boy am I glad I didn't spend my money on that! :D I went to cvs one day and scowered the wall of face washes. There were so many to choose from! I was a little bit overwhelmed. So I decided to ask for some help. I asked the lady at the cashier counter by the makeup if she could help me. She came over and I showed her the ones I had already tried. Then she pointed me to this fabulous creation. Neutrogena Oil-free Acne Stress Control, 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment. (pictured below) Wow now that is a mouth full :p

So I tried it and after only two weeks of using it. I am in love. My face has never looked better! :D It is clean, bright and acne free! :D The redness on my face is even gone! :) My foundation goes on cleaner and I don't have to cover any redness or blemishes ;D
The best part about this amazing product is that it prevents acne before it even starts to show up! :D What can you not love about that?!

This product is rated four and a half stars. :o and it is under $10! :O:O:O:O And just when you thought it couldn't get any better ;)

Just read some of the reviews!

"I have tried alot of products for acne and while some worked, they were very harsh on my skin and I dreaded using them. I always look for gentle products to use on my skin and it's very hard to find products that fight acne but also fight irritation. This one does! I swear the first time I put it on my face, I felt refreshed and calmed."

"I have tried it all! Ever since I was a teen (20+ years ago), I have tried everything from antibiotics to retinol, proactive to murad products. This by far works the best for me. I use it twice a day. I didn't realize how well it worked till I ran out of it on vacation and started to break out. I have whiteheads, black heads, enlarged pores and the nasty deep cystic acne .... IF I don't use this stuff."

Amazing huh? ;) So why don't you try it for yourself? Instead of paying $100 in products where you need to do three treatments, get this at target for $5.84! :O
