Summer OHHH Ten

It's finally summer chickies! :D Which means time to get tan, wear sandals, hang all day at the beach, party all night and go on vacations. However to get ready for summer takes time and effort. UGH. I am once again to the recuse ;) I will tell you everything you need to do in this silly little blog post. Lets get started! :D

Tan
Probably the most important. If you know me you know I am ghostly white and cannot get a tan for the life of me. I am also against damaging UV rays. I don't know about you but I don't want to get cancer. So the alternative? Airbrush Tans! :D I got a free Airbrush Tan in a Can from work and I have to say I liked the results but my fault it was so blotchy since I did it in the bathroom which has THE WORST lighting in the world. However when applied properly it looks very natural. My chest and arms looked really good, the problem was that I had to wipe my legs. Listen to the instructions and FOLLOW THEM. So if you are a beginner don't try that. Get a Mystic Tan at any tanning place. I really liked it because it gets your entire body. However listen to me when I say from experience to wipe the excess off. If you don't you will get blotchy and dark spots. And by the way Commet doesn't even get the tan off. Lucky enough for you almost all tanning places have Mystic Tan remover. Just in case ;) Before you go in to get the machine tan, listen to the employee and make sure you tell them this is your first time.

Feet
You need to have sandal ready feet for summer, it is an absolute must. Cause nobody goes to the beach in tennis shoes :p You can pay $40 for a pedicure or DIY. I recommend doing it yourself because your feet will not only be softer with this routine it will also save you money ;) First clip, file and apply cuticle cream, my favorite is Lemony Flutter by LUSH. Then you want to get your feet silky smooth, so turn on the hot water and using the La Source 60 Second fix for feet Take the revitalizer and apply it all over your foot don't wash off just yet, taking the Pedegg Shaver and tackle the rough patches of your feet (side of your big toe, heel, and the ball of your foot) the scrub will help coat the foot so you aren't doing it on bare skin. Next take the Pumas and smooth the rough patches. Feel the areas while doing this to see when you have gotten it super smooth. Next rinse off the scrub and repeat on the other foot. Pat your feet dry and already you can notice softer smoother feet right? Then take the lotion that comes in the 60 Second Fix and apply all over your feet, then take a pair of therapeutic socks (Earth Therapeutics) and put them on. An hour later you can apply your nail polish. Choose a bright color like yellow, green, or neon pink. I suggest applying the 60 second fix at least 3 times a week and going to bed with the socks on. And use the pumas at least once a week. And for the final step go to Old Navy and buy 2 for 1 flipflops ;)

Hair
Time to get rid of that dull dark hair color and get some natural highlights :) no chemicals needed! You need fresh squeezed lemon juice, you can either apply directly or in a spray bottle and depending on how long your hair you may need up to 5 lemons. Do this on dirty hair since it will pick up the colors better, just like dying your hair with dye. If you want just highlights then apply the lemon juice with a brush on sections of your hair. If you want your whole head highlighted then apply all over your head evenly. Don't forget to use sunscreen! You will be outside for awhile so keep yourself protected. Every 20 minutes go inside to check the color you may want to dry your hair to see the color it is. If you want lighter apply some more lemon juice and sunscreen and go out for another 20 minutes do this until you have archived the look you want. Lightly shampoo hair and condition.

Skin
Sunscreen. I cannot express how important it really is! Any sunscreen is suitable and let me tell you, anything above 30 does nothing more so you are wasting your money buying a 70 sunscreen. Waterproof sunscreen is always best with swimming, and/or sweating.

Legs
Use Mens razors because they are gentler since they are made for a mans face and will give you a closer shave. For my "shaving cream" I use LUSH's Sugar Scrub all over my legs and then shave under warm water. It makes your legs feel so smooth you feel as if you don't need any lotion! You don't have to apply lotion however since I live in the desert it is sort of a must. ;D My favorite is Crabtree & Evelyn Naturals Botanical Body Butter.

Face
  • Best face wash for the summer I believe is LUSH's ocean salt Face scrub it won't dry you out and will keep your skin clean and fresh. However if you are a teenage you are still prone to acne and in which case there is a quick fix. Clinique Acne Solutions Spot Healing Treatment is great for those one or two pimples that pop out of nowhere.
  • Nobody likes to wear a heavy foundation when it super hot out, so use a tinted moisturizer with SPF all over your face. My favorite is Smashbox Sheer Focus with SPF 15.
  • Best Mascara for the summer is my favorite mascara ever. Yep you guessed it Kiss Me ;)
  • For kissable smooth lips, first apply LUSH's lip scrub all over your lips and rub them together, then lick it off. Sounds really gross I know, but come on how many times do you bite your lips? Then apply lip balm with SPF, Ultra Chapstick with SPF 30 is a really great buy, you can find it at any drugstore. Next apply any lipstick and using a napkin press your lips like you were kissing it and this will take off a lot of the color staining your lips, or you can just use a lip stain.
  • Use a waterproof bronzer all over your face to give you a sun-kissed glow. Using a waterproof one gives you the opportunity to go swimming and have the glow stay.
  • If you want to add a little bit more color to your eyes and have it stay. I recommend Cargo's Swimmables Waterproof Pencil Collection they don't smudge, they are bold colors, doesn't run and lasts long.

There you have it! You are now ready for the hot summer ;)

Pretty Little Darling

We all have those days where we don't know what to do with our hair, and we don't want to do the same hairstyle everyday. Well I have the solution to getting fabulous hair in minutes. Sexy red carpet waves:

Best part about this look? Is that it's not all that time consuming.First don't put any product in your hair while it is damp. Blow dry your hair, you don't need to blow dry it straight. Just make sure it is all dry. Part hair into sections, (pictured at left) you really only need to do three sections. Take a 1 inch curling iron of your choice, and no you don't need a Chi curling iron. There is definitely no need to spend that amount of money on a curling iron. Take a small section of hair and curl it. Do this throughout your entire head. You don't have to make sure the curls are even or messy. Do not spray hair spray or any other product before curling. Make sure you get each section. When all your head is curled take your bristled brush and brush through your hair. No no, don't worry it won't frizz :) This will actually help it to be soft and smooth. After you have brushed your hair and like the way it lays then take some hair spray, use a light hair spray you don't want your hair sticky. And spritz it lightly all over.

FINISHED! :)

Fast and easy huh? OPTIONAL:
Don't have a straightener? Your bangs doing crazy things? You can actually use your curling iron to curl your hair! ;) Yep thats right. All you have to do is take the hair place it on the iron and close the handle just a bit but not all the way closed and pull the hair through. Tada! :)
So next time you need a quick hair fix, try this out and you won't have a dull hair day again ;)

Healthy Hair

Hair is the ultimate accessory for every woman and keeping it looking healthy is the key to success. These are some tips to keep your hair healthy and strong.
  • Frizz problems? Don't wash your conditioner completely out. Leave a small hint behind, this will weigh the hair down guarding it from humidity and frizz. Make sure you don't leave too much on because that could make your hair look greasy.
  • Don't shampoo your hair everyday, that is drying out your hair and scalp. Instead shampoo 3-4 times a week. On days you don't shampoo just rinse your hair and apply conditioner to your ends.
  • If you use a flat iron or a curling iron daily it is important that you do a hot oil treatments your hair at least once a week. Hot oil treatments are not only cheap but you can do them in your own home :)
  • Always brush your hair before you get in the shower, don't brush your hair after you get out. This is when your hair is the most venerable and creates breaks and stretches the hair.
  • When drying your hair use your fingers till your hair is damp then use your brush.
  • After you color your hair to avoid it fading do not wash it for 72 hours and only use color-safe products.
  • For extra shine, when rinsing out your conditioner use slightly cool water. This also applies to your hair dryer. After your hair is completely dry use the cool button over your entire head.
  • Try to let your hair dry naturally once and awhile to give it a break from all the heat and styling products.
  • It is good to get a hair cut ever two months, at least getting a trim. Split ends are the worst enemy.
  • Your diet has more to do with your hair health more than you think. Your hair is mostly made of protein which it makes sense that you need protein to keep it growing and healthy. Water is crucial to healthy hair, drinking at least 8 glasses a day is not only good for your hair but also your skin as well. If you have oily hair stay away from fatty foods.
Follow these steps and you will have the flawless hair you want ;)

Extensions

Extensions are a great way to create a new look, 'cause lets face it nobody wants to wear the same hairstyle everyday. It's boring! So why not spice it up a little bit with some extensions? These just might be the greatest invention for women, ever! Let me tell you something, if you are a woman then you will need these sometime in your life! ;) A lot of my friends had several questions about them. So here I am clearing up the the confusion ;)

If you are going to spend your money buy the good stuff! The synthetic ones cannot be curled, straightened or be put under any heat. They don't last as long, you can't brush them much or the hair will fall out. You also cannot wash them because the hair will become tangled and ratted.

Human hair is the best choice. It can be washed, which is a good thing so that the hair doesn't pick up funny odors. You can curl, straighten and use whatever hair product you wish.

I use 16 inch clip in extensions. I bought them last year since I had short hair I wanted to be able to have that extra length. I now use them for extra volume when I am going to parties, out shopping, but mostly I use them for night time events. They are easy to clip into my hair, they tell you to tease the hair and hairspray it where you are going to place the clip of the extensions. However I only do this if I know I will be wearing them for a long period of time. My set came with 7 pieces, but that is too much hair for me since my hair is not thin so I only put 4 in and it gives me just enough volume.

Last years prom I wore 25 extensions, and ladies I won't lie that after the night was over my head killed! But that is also because I had 25 of them in and not 4 or 7. It was amazing since I am a crazy dancer I am so surprised that none of them flew out of my head. I almost took out my date with my hair though, I think he got whiplash :p Just kidding hahaha This was the result. I loved my hair that day! It was loud and full. I was wearing all straighten clip in extensions ranging from 16" to 20" We curled each inch of my hair and the extensions which by the way if you look at the picture you cannot tell which is my real hair and which is the extension ;)

I bought mine from a tiny store in the mall. That was in Michigan of course. But I found a good website to buy the extensions: www.hairextensions.com
You can choose different color, sizes and styles.

The Jessica Simpson brand is not bad, she has real and synthetic types. Make sure you know what you are getting, read carefully or if you are at a store ask questions. I would recommend that you go to a store so that you can find one to match your hair perfectly. You can also feel it to make sure it is real and try it on if you'd like :)

I had a Jessica Simpson curly one piece extension and I didn't like it. It got really frizzy fast and the clips were so small that the piece wouldn't stay in your hair very well and could fall lop sided. I like some one piece hair extensions but I think I prefer the 7 piece clip in ones better :)

Short and Sweet

This post will be short and sweet :) I will show you how to create this hairstyle. "the side swipe" Perfect for school, dates, or if you are in a rush and don't know what to do with your hair.
First all you need is a handful of bobby pins and leave-in conditioner of your choice. I use Bed Head Ego boost leave in conditioner, and scunci bobby pins.
First you want to start with (duh) Clean hair. haha Now my hair is naturally curly, however if you don't have curly hair you have the option to curl it if you'd like. I just use my straightener and curl the hair around my face and straighten my bangs. But if you are in a rush you don't have to do any of that. It all depends on how you style your hair normally.

First you take the right side of your hair (it can be left as well, doesn't have to be the right) and move it to your left shoulder. Take the top half of your hair and bobby pin it securely to the left side of your head. then take the left side of your hair and pull it back as well so you are creating a half up half down look. For extra flair twist the hair before pinning it. Make sure all the hair is on one shoulder and discreetly pin all stray hairs.

Add the leave in conditioner to the top crown of your head and only on the pony tail you have created. This is to take care of any stray hairs. Remember this is to look messy so don't try to clean it up too much. And you're done! :D

Optional: I sometimes rat the crown of my hair for a tiny bit for extra fullness. To do this, you take a section of hair from your crown (the top of your head) and hairspray the roots (lightly) and rat down 3/4 of your hair. It will look funny if you don't brush it into place. So take a bristle hair brush and lightly comb the hair to tame it down just a slight bit. Another option is to create a "bump" and then swipe your hair to the side. I will post a tutorial on the "bump" in days to come ;) I also take a tiny piece of my hair on the right side and curl it with my straightener for a cutesy look :) Enjoy!

The finished product:
