Summer Splash :)

I have always wanted to look good while at the pool or beach. The problem was, I wasn't aware of many water proof products. The only water proof products I found was eyeliner and mascara. However I wanted extra coverage to keep me looking gorgeous all day long! And guess what ladies? I've got the secret ;)

First off start out with a water proof tinted moisturizer. I am using my favorite by Cargo, in Ivory since I am so white :p It is the perfect shade for me! :) Apply it just like foundation, and blend into your skin with your hands. I do suggest to do this in the sunlight, since you will be outside and you don't want to look like you are wearing a mask :p Just make sure you have covered your skin evenly. You don't want it to look blotchy. I had to be careful of this since I am so fair. If you see a spot with more color just take a foundation brush or your fingers and blend it out. Watch your forehead, since this is where I found problems with blotchy coloring. The best part about this product is that it is water proof! :D

Next step is optional, take some powder and apply all over your face for extra coverage and make the look more complete. I just like the way it helps to give me a more finished look. Then concealer for dark circles and redness. I usually do under my eyes, either sides of my nose and mouth. Go a color up in concealer to match the tinted moisturizer. I found that my Benefit Erase Paste concealer NO. 1 was too light and made my eyes way brighter than the rest of my face.

Eyebrows are next, this is pretty self explanatory. Use your favorite eyebrow pencil, or powder and use a gel to set the eyebrow in place. I am using Clinique's Instant Lift for Brows

Next step is bronzer. No matter your skin color, bronzer is always a good choice for summer. It gives you that radiant, sun kissed, summer glow. I am using Cargo's Water Resistant Bronzer. It is water proof and looks good on yes, even me! :D I know a lot of fair skinned women tend to stay away from bronzers but let me tell you. This will I repeat WILL look good on you and won't make you look dirty :p When I had my Cargo training, the Rep actually took water and poured water directly on the bronzer and the water did not soak in! It just floated around in a huge bubble. You apply bronzer on your cheeks, and this is where you should have the most color since you want it to look natural. You then lightly dust the rest of your face with your brush to give it a little bit of a glow.

Next you apply highlighter to the apples of your cheeks, above the eyebrows, and above and below your lips. You want to highlight key points on your face. I am using Benefit High Beam.

Next take a black eyeliner and line the inner rim of your eye. (Top of your eye right below the lashes) This will look more natural instead of drawing straight onto the top of your lashes. Then take a white eyeliner and line your water line (the line right above your lower lashes) This brightens the eyes making them larger and this is also good when you are feeling tired and want to make yourself look more awake.

Curl your lashes and apply mascara. Best summer mascara? You guessed it. Kiss Me;)

Final step is to prefect the lips. First apply a lip moisturizer to get rid of dryness, then taking a white eyeliner outline your lips. Coloring right outside your lip line. This helps give your lips a more defined shape making them appear larger. (If your lips are already a decent size feel free to skip this step) Next take a lip pencil and draw your lips following their natural shape. This also helps to define and keep your lipstick from running. Then take your lip color and color in rubing your lips together to get even coverage and using a tissue if needed and or your fingers to get the perfect look you want. A simple tip is either your eyes should be dramatic, or your lips. Not both that is borderline clown makeup :p In this case your lips will be dramatic :)

and DONE! :D
This routine should only take you about 10 minutes at the most. It usually only takes me about 5 minutes since I have been doing it daily. So not only is it simple but super fast! :D

Tinted Moisturizer and Curling Iron Review

I am going to do two product reviews in one blog post to save paper...Ok just kidding :p I thought since I was wearing them both at the same time why not?! ;)
On Saturday I got some training from a Cargo representative. I have to admit I was impressed. Their new summer line is amazing! There is no line like this one let me tell you. Next blog post I will give you some info on their summer products what they do and such.

She gave me a sample of their tinted moisturizer, which I am in love with! (pictured at left) I have to admit I was a little skeptical since I need more coverage than most women to give me an even skin tone. I applied the moisturizer all over my face and was instantly amazed! It is so sheer and light weight but yet covers all your imperfections!

This product has SPF 20 so you don't need to apply any before you apply this. It is water resistant, chemical free and oil free. It also has something unique, it gives your skin a little energy boost and helps nourish your skin.

It comes in four shades - Ivory, Nude, Honey & Tan which I love, so that every woman can find the color that matches her skin tone perfectly. You know how hard it can be to find your skin tone especially when you just got a tan!
Check out the results ---->
Evened my skin out pretty well huh? ;) Do I have you sold yet?

You can buy this product at Ulta for $34.00 I know it seems pricey however I did notice a little goes a long way :)

I give this product four thumbs up :)

Next product is the Conair You Curl, the clipless curling iron. I have been wanting the HAI Elite "the Rod" clipless curling iron. I saw it on www.hairextensions.com and I had to have it. However that price was not in my price range. So one day at work I came across this little number. One of my customers brought it up and we must have just gotten it in that day because I had never seen it before. I decided to try it out and at first I had no idea how to use it. I hadn't seen the TV ad for it. It was different from normal curling irons since it has no clamp. Finally after days of trying different techniques I finally got used to it and figured out how to work it :p

I got natural looking curls that took less time than with a normal curling iron. It is so simple once you figure out how to work it. You just wrap your hair around the barrel and hold for 5 seconds then let go and you have a gorgeous curl. You do have to be careful since you could easily burn yourself. It doesn't come with any gloves but you can however buy some gloves from Target or from the extensions website three finger glove or the two finger glove.

I didn't dry my hair I just let it dry then curled my hair without sectioning it and got a sexy beachy waves look. It took me about 10minutes at the max, and I didn't put any hairspray to keep the look natural.

I really love this curling iron, since it gives me a natural looking style and also faster than other curling irons. I would definitely recommend this product :) The only problem I had with it was that it doesn't work that well with short hair, basically hair above the shoulders. You can buy this iron at Ulta for $39.99 verses the HAI elite for $149.95.

Swimming with fishtails

Since it's summer I thought this tutorial would come in handy, for those days at the pool or beach. I know that it is hard to maintain hair after you get it wet, so this is super quick and easy to do. Perfect for bad hair days or just to have a different look.

First decide if you want one braid or two. I usually do one to the side that I have my part on so I can clip the hair back or intertwine it with the braid. Brush your hair so it is completely tangle free.
Then take your hair and split it into two sections then take a piece from the back of the left side of the two sections and bring it to the right side and pull tight. Do this for the right side bringing a back piece of the left side to the right and pull tight. Do this throughout the entire braid until you are satisfied with the length. I know you may be confused so I took pictures of each step and also uploaded a video of each step.

Make sure you pull the hair tight while doing the braid so that it is cleaner looking. It depends on my mood but sometimes I like my braid messy and others I like it neat. I secure my bangs with a bobby pin or let the hairs hang for a more messy beach look. Play this look up with some accessories:
If you didn't understand that at all here is the video :)
