Summer OHHH Ten

It's finally summer chickies! :D Which means time to get tan, wear sandals, hang all day at the beach, party all night and go on vacations. However to get ready for summer takes time and effort. UGH. I am once again to the recuse ;) I will tell you everything you need to do in this silly little blog post. Lets get started! :D

Tan
Probably the most important. If you know me you know I am ghostly white and cannot get a tan for the life of me. I am also against damaging UV rays. I don't know about you but I don't want to get cancer. So the alternative? Airbrush Tans! :D I got a free Airbrush Tan in a Can from work and I have to say I liked the results but my fault it was so blotchy since I did it in the bathroom which has THE WORST lighting in the world. However when applied properly it looks very natural. My chest and arms looked really good, the problem was that I had to wipe my legs. Listen to the instructions and FOLLOW THEM. So if you are a beginner don't try that. Get a Mystic Tan at any tanning place. I really liked it because it gets your entire body. However listen to me when I say from experience to wipe the excess off. If you don't you will get blotchy and dark spots. And by the way Commet doesn't even get the tan off. Lucky enough for you almost all tanning places have Mystic Tan remover. Just in case ;) Before you go in to get the machine tan, listen to the employee and make sure you tell them this is your first time.

Feet
You need to have sandal ready feet for summer, it is an absolute must. Cause nobody goes to the beach in tennis shoes :p You can pay $40 for a pedicure or DIY. I recommend doing it yourself because your feet will not only be softer with this routine it will also save you money ;) First clip, file and apply cuticle cream, my favorite is Lemony Flutter by LUSH. Then you want to get your feet silky smooth, so turn on the hot water and using the La Source 60 Second fix for feet Take the revitalizer and apply it all over your foot don't wash off just yet, taking the Pedegg Shaver and tackle the rough patches of your feet (side of your big toe, heel, and the ball of your foot) the scrub will help coat the foot so you aren't doing it on bare skin. Next take the Pumas and smooth the rough patches. Feel the areas while doing this to see when you have gotten it super smooth. Next rinse off the scrub and repeat on the other foot. Pat your feet dry and already you can notice softer smoother feet right? Then take the lotion that comes in the 60 Second Fix and apply all over your feet, then take a pair of therapeutic socks (Earth Therapeutics) and put them on. An hour later you can apply your nail polish. Choose a bright color like yellow, green, or neon pink. I suggest applying the 60 second fix at least 3 times a week and going to bed with the socks on. And use the pumas at least once a week. And for the final step go to Old Navy and buy 2 for 1 flipflops ;)

Hair
Time to get rid of that dull dark hair color and get some natural highlights :) no chemicals needed! You need fresh squeezed lemon juice, you can either apply directly or in a spray bottle and depending on how long your hair you may need up to 5 lemons. Do this on dirty hair since it will pick up the colors better, just like dying your hair with dye. If you want just highlights then apply the lemon juice with a brush on sections of your hair. If you want your whole head highlighted then apply all over your head evenly. Don't forget to use sunscreen! You will be outside for awhile so keep yourself protected. Every 20 minutes go inside to check the color you may want to dry your hair to see the color it is. If you want lighter apply some more lemon juice and sunscreen and go out for another 20 minutes do this until you have archived the look you want. Lightly shampoo hair and condition.

Skin
Sunscreen. I cannot express how important it really is! Any sunscreen is suitable and let me tell you, anything above 30 does nothing more so you are wasting your money buying a 70 sunscreen. Waterproof sunscreen is always best with swimming, and/or sweating.

Legs
Use Mens razors because they are gentler since they are made for a mans face and will give you a closer shave. For my "shaving cream" I use LUSH's Sugar Scrub all over my legs and then shave under warm water. It makes your legs feel so smooth you feel as if you don't need any lotion! You don't have to apply lotion however since I live in the desert it is sort of a must. ;D My favorite is Crabtree & Evelyn Naturals Botanical Body Butter.

Face
  • Best face wash for the summer I believe is LUSH's ocean salt Face scrub it won't dry you out and will keep your skin clean and fresh. However if you are a teenage you are still prone to acne and in which case there is a quick fix. Clinique Acne Solutions Spot Healing Treatment is great for those one or two pimples that pop out of nowhere.
  • Nobody likes to wear a heavy foundation when it super hot out, so use a tinted moisturizer with SPF all over your face. My favorite is Smashbox Sheer Focus with SPF 15.
  • Best Mascara for the summer is my favorite mascara ever. Yep you guessed it Kiss Me ;)
  • For kissable smooth lips, first apply LUSH's lip scrub all over your lips and rub them together, then lick it off. Sounds really gross I know, but come on how many times do you bite your lips? Then apply lip balm with SPF, Ultra Chapstick with SPF 30 is a really great buy, you can find it at any drugstore. Next apply any lipstick and using a napkin press your lips like you were kissing it and this will take off a lot of the color staining your lips, or you can just use a lip stain.
  • Use a waterproof bronzer all over your face to give you a sun-kissed glow. Using a waterproof one gives you the opportunity to go swimming and have the glow stay.
  • If you want to add a little bit more color to your eyes and have it stay. I recommend Cargo's Swimmables Waterproof Pencil Collection they don't smudge, they are bold colors, doesn't run and lasts long.

There you have it! You are now ready for the hot summer ;)
If you have any questions or comments feel free to email me I'd love to hear from you :)

Sky High Lashes

Don't you hate when you see an advertisment for mascara and they are wearing false eyelashes? Don't you wish you could have beautiful natural lashes? I will share my secret on how to get lashes that everyone will comment on them ;)

Tools needed:
  • Eyeliner
  • Favorite mascara
  • Metal eyelash curler
First define your eye with eyeliner this is a helpful step in creating those beautiful lashes. My favorites are Stila Smudge Pots and any felt tip liquid liner. They are easiest to use and can create whatever size line you'd like.

Next curl your lashes. I have found that plastic eyelash curlers work, just not as well as metal ones. My favorite is Shu Uemura. Make sure you curl all the lashes, I say this because some lashes grow straight out instead of up and you don't want some lashes pointing up and some pointing straight ahead.

Next take a handheld mirror hold it down so you have to look down to see yourself. Then apply your mascara, make sure you wiggle to not get any clumps and make sure you get every lash moving the brush to coat them. Looking down at the mirror instead of directly at it will help you to not get any mascara on your eyelids or already applied makeup. It also helps to lengthen so you can get to each lash with ease.

For this tutorial I only curled my left lashes and not my right so you could see the difference curling your lashes really does make. As you can see the eyelash curler also helps separate the lashes which also makes them look longer. You can definatly see a difference, and now you have proof that eyelash curlers really do work ;)

Pretty Little Darling

We all have those days where we don't know what to do with our hair, and we don't want to do the same hairstyle everyday. Well I have the solution to getting fabulous hair in minutes. Sexy red carpet waves:

Best part about this look? Is that it's not all that time consuming.First don't put any product in your hair while it is damp. Blow dry your hair, you don't need to blow dry it straight. Just make sure it is all dry. Part hair into sections, (pictured at left) you really only need to do three sections. Take a 1 inch curling iron of your choice, and no you don't need a Chi curling iron. There is definitely no need to spend that amount of money on a curling iron. Take a small section of hair and curl it. Do this throughout your entire head. You don't have to make sure the curls are even or messy. Do not spray hair spray or any other product before curling. Make sure you get each section. When all your head is curled take your bristled brush and brush through your hair. No no, don't worry it won't frizz :) This will actually help it to be soft and smooth. After you have brushed your hair and like the way it lays then take some hair spray, use a light hair spray you don't want your hair sticky. And spritz it lightly all over.

FINISHED! :)

Fast and easy huh? OPTIONAL:
Don't have a straightener? Your bangs doing crazy things? You can actually use your curling iron to curl your hair! ;) Yep thats right. All you have to do is take the hair place it on the iron and close the handle just a bit but not all the way closed and pull the hair through. Tada! :)
So next time you need a quick hair fix, try this out and you won't have a dull hair day again ;)

Viva La Lush

I talked a little bit about this soap on my video blog last week, and promised to give more details. My skin is very sensitive, and is prone to redness. I have tried millions of different products trying to make my skin clearer, smoother, and all one color. I didn't even realize these products were not helping my skin but actually making my condition worse! My sister told me about this soap and I was like skeptical because nothing made my skin better, I always had a lot of redness and blemishes. So when I went to visit her she had me try this soap, she told me to try it for the week I was there and see if I saw a difference. So I tried it not thinking it would actually do anything. WOW is all I have to say. I really wish I had a before and after picture to show you the drastic difference. My skin has NEVER looked or felt better. My redness gone. Blemishes? Gone! Even my mom noticed! :) I hardly even have to put foundation on my skin looks so fabulous :)

On the LUSH website they tell you what it does and what is in the soap:

"If your skin is troubled, sensitive and reacts to nearly everything you put on it, lather up with this nightly. It's pink because it's packed with calamine, the stuff your mom put on your mosquito bites to calm down your skin and stop it from itching. We also add chamomile and rose to soothe, and a bit of tea tree oil to help cleanse for blemish-free skin. It's soft, creamy and delightfully effective so give it a try, rub the pink frothy foam all over."

They can cut the soap to whatever size you'd like and the price ranges from OZ. It doesn't have a funky odor and the chunk you get lasts for a couple months (about the same time a regular face wash lasts)

Do I have you sold yet? If you don't believe me, I will hold a contest for one lucky winner to receive a tiny piece to try out for a week. I bet you will never look back to your old face washes ;)

To enter the contest you have to email me giving me your best answer to the age old question "Why did the chicken cross the road?" Best answer wins ;)

The Perfect Canvas

Every woman want to look picture perfect and have that perfect looking skin tone. Well do I have good news for you! I can show you how to get that photo ready look with a gorgeous glow. ;D

First and foremost you need to moisturize your face. If you don't then your skin will be dried out and the foundation will not apply as easily plus your foundation will accentuate the dry spots. Next face primer, if you need help as to what to use or don't know about primers yet check here for some guidance. Also apply some lip balm as well to prep your lips for lipstick/gloss.

Start with liquid foundation, I'm using L'orel's True Match Super Blendable Makeup in Porcelain W1. Pour a little on your hand and using a foundation brush apply all over your face in criss cross motion. If you have streaks you have too much foundation on your brush. I like to apply all over my face and rub it in with my hands to get the perfect coverage. Below I just applied foundation to half my face to show you the difference foundation really makes.

Look at how much better it looks! The redness is gone, my face looks brighter and alive :p So ladies, foundation does really help, you have your proof right there.

Next step is concealer, apply underneath your eyes, sides of your nose, corners of your mouth and bridge of your nose. Those areas are more prone to redness. And of course apply to any blemish or anything else you want to hide :p

Fill in your eyebrows with a pencil, I'm using Clinique Instant Life for Brows in soft brown. I love this pencil! It does amazing things for my eyebrows. I know a lot of women are like, "only people who don't have eyebrows do that" Wrong my friends, have you ever noticed spots of your brows that were a little bare? I know I do, and you would be amazed at the difference filling them in makes! Trust me on this one ;) Use light strokes to make them look like actual hairs. The beauty of this pencil is nobody can tell if I drew them in or it was my actual eyebrow hair ;)

Powder is the next step to seal in the foundation and give it that airbrushed feel. I'm using Make up Forever powder this is the closest thing you can get to airbrushed makeup without actually using an airbrush machine. Just tap powder into the cap, use a brush and apply all over your face in a circular motion make sure you get all over the face for even coverage. Your brush size will depend on the type of coverage you want, if you want more coverage use a bigger brush if you want to just seal the makeup use a smaller brush.

The next step is eye primer, take a tiny amount and apply across your eyelids and just under the brow so your colors stay in place and look brighter.

Next is brightener, you want to brighten your face up and give it that dewy glow. If you notice in pictures celebrities always are really bright right under their eyes. I'm using Smashbox's Eye Brightener. All the areas with red circles are where you should apply this. This is so that light with catch these areas and accentuate the key points on your face. Make sure you blend this well so it doesn't look greasy or cakey. If you have full lips I would recommend to stay away from putting brightener on them. They already grab attention so you don't need to make them the only thing people see when they look at you :p

And that my friend, are all the steps to creating the perfect canvas :) You are now ready for your eye makeup.

Prime Time Live

Most women don't know the beauty of primers, and how much they help you get the even clear skin tone you have been looking for. These are essential and should be in your makeup bag. Let me school you and have you make move to a more beautiful you ;D

Primer is so important for the perfect skin tone. Primer smooths out wrinkles, evens out skin tone, prepares the face for foundation, and it also helps it go on smoother and evenly. There are several different primers for different skin tones. My favorite brand of primer would be Smashbox. They were actually the first to make primers, which are now a must have in every womans makeup bag ;)
All listed below are Smashbox products and can be found here.

Regular primer is just your basic primer; smoothing your skin and preparing it for the makeup. Good for acne prone skin and oily skin.

Peach Primer - smooths fine lines, reduces the apprence of wrinkles over time. You can actually wear this one alone because of it's peachy color. It has SPF 15 in it so you don't have to apply sunscreen over it and get a greasy look.

Green primer is for people with a redish skin tone. I personally have a lot of redness in my cheeks and a little in my T-zone (your forehead to the bottom of your nose) This helps even the skin tone and help your foundation to fade the red color. It also reduces appearance of wrinkles and helps hide dark spots.

Purple primer brightens dull skin, help with discoloration, minimize appearance of wrinkles, and even skin tone.

You cannot layer primer over primer however, it will look too greasy. What I do is use the normal primer everywhere on my face and use just the green on my cheeks since I have the most redness there. It works well to even out my skin tone :)

Eye primer is a must must must must! First it helps to prevent your eyeshadow from creasing and makes the colors brighter. I have to admit at first I was like, "yeah whatever I don't need to spend more money on things I don't need. My eyeshadow looks fine as it is." Until one day when I messed my eyeliner up and had to start all over again I had concealer on my eyelid and my eye makeup remover took it off. So I applied the eyeshadow on again and was amazed at the difference in color! They were the same eyeshadow colors I had applied to the other eye but with no concealer. I finally gave in and bought some. Concealer works okay if you don't have anymore eye primer, however it does crease if you put too much on so be careful. These are the top three eye primers I would suggest:

Benefit's Stay Don't Stray
$24 at Ulta ;)

Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion
$18.00 at Ulta

BareVitamins Prime Time Eyelid Primer
$16.00 at Ulta
